Day 7: From Snowcapped to Red Rock

Cute Rabbit Ears Motel in the town of Steamboat Springs.

 "The beach".

Alyssa and Raul on the gondola up the mountain....

Smiles all around-- thanks, Alyssa, for a great time!

Crazy people dirt biking down the mountain. Alyssa, who works as a physical therapist, had all kinds of stories to tell about patients doing daring acts on their bikes or on the slopes, just waiting for another chance ski again, AKA get"their powder days".

Kids' camp up on the mountain.

An Olympic town.

Gorgeous views from Thunderhead building.

 Mountain flowers.

 Traveling dogs...

OK, I've seen many more squished bugs than I bargained for, but this one is especially stunning.

The landscape begins to change again...

Still looking for buffalo, and taking tons of pictures of cows (just in case).

Stopping to fill up our bottles with fresh spring water.

Made it to Utah.

Despite the sign, Jo Mama's was closed.

Gary, at Papa Joe's gas station, told us about a good place to camp... Only after telling us about how jealous Italian women can be (and that, although he's seen a lot of pretty Italian ladies, he'd never date one again!)

Union Pacific.

Would you look at those red rocks?

Not a bad place to camp, near Moab, on the edge of the Colorado River.

Stars, stars, stars...
